The Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire de Strasbourg: building the collection in the German period (1871-1918)

After the fire in the Strasburg library during the siege of 1870, the German Empire created in annexed Alsace-Lorraine a new library destined for the University of Strasburg and for the Land Elsass-Lothringen. Built on the basis of a systematic encyclopedic classification, it is able to offer to researchers essential older publications and almost all of the current literature as well as some outstanding specialised material.
