From Chantilly to La Part-Dieu: the Jesuit collection of Les Fontaines, three years on

The Jesuit collection of les Fontaines, boasting 500,000 documents, came to the municipal library of Lyon in 1999. Three years later, a first assessment of this transfer can be made. The collection, which continues to be enriched, has regained some of its specialist public, but now it is reaching out to a new public. The ongoing automation of the catalogue, cultural activities and visits of discovery are not unrelated to this development. The religious part of the collection seems to be relatively less in demand than the historical, literary and artistic parts, which are the traditional strengths of the municipal library.
