Research at the Bibliothèque nationale de France

Assessment of the last ten years shows that research at the Bibliothèque nationale de France has been at the same time structured and varied, and today is concerned with a large range of disciplines, subjects and fields. Grouped around broad themes (bibliography; backups, uses and circulation of documents; the heritage; conservation), research is also an activity that is integrated with other academic activities of the departments, but that is developing more and more with the support of various partners such as the CNRS, research establishments or universities. The abundance of new perspectives opened up as much by the emergence of great projects like the Institut national d'histoire de l'art as by the impact of digitisation and of the development of the new technologies will encourage the BnF to define priorities and to extend and reinforce its partnerships.
