Integrating joint local council projects in a municipal library: the case of the multimedia library of Les Mureaux

With effect from October 2000, the multimedia library of Les Mureaux has become an "intercommunity resource centre for reading" within the limits of a "reading-town" contract signed with the state. This outcome is the fruit of a process initiated four years ago around an intercommunity project concerned with the development of public reading and the redefining of municipal policy on reading. The restructuring so far is still only one stage of the network of public reading under construction - a network whose forms respond to a particular local situation.
