What Training for Digital Libraries?

Taking account of the place taken by digital libraries, the training of librarians must today be complemented by new courses that bear as much on the new documentary instruments as on the place of the digital document in our society. The authors examine the different types of courses already existent in the field. They then propose a curriculum that comprises the technical concepts, the typology and the treatment of digital documents and the organisation of digital libraries. According to the subjects treated, they suggest different teaching methods and distinguish initial training from continuing education. The proposed curriculum lies within a generalist degree course that encompasses a single vision as much for traditional libraries as for their digital counterparts. The article ends on the main stakes in the training of users in the use of digital libraries.
