Children's Section/Adults' Section: Decompartmentalize?

Taking the example of the library network of Marne-la-Vallée Val-Maubuée, this article analyzes the function of a library in which the sections for children and adults are not separated, but rather installed in a single room, decompartmentalized. It tackles the problems of the repercussions from this on the frequentation and use of the place child and adult and also the advantages or difficulties encountered by the personnel. In conclusion, this article reveals a very positive outlook for this mode of functioning which is no longer reserved only for small and medium libraries.
