Research and Children's Literature in France: Pure or Applied Research?

This article analyzes the developments in both pure and applied research into children's literature in France over the last ten years. Four major sectors are then outlined at the intersection of different disciplines for a domain where literature is redefined by the relation to the image and to new media: the history of childhood and culture, the history of the children's book and its publication, exchanges with oral culture, the relations of literature and aesthetics. Presented are the theses submitted and the principal orientations of the researchers.
