Total Quality Management in United Kingdom Libraries

The British Library Research and Innovation Centre and the new Library and Information Commission have encouraged researchers and British professionals to explore the practical applications of quality management techniques. Some means have been developed for public, university and specialized libraries. With the growth of information sources on the Internet, the question of knowing how to judge the quality of information received increases in importance. The attempts to apply quality management are numerous in British libraries but preparing for and obtaining iso 9000 certification is very demanding. Other libraries refer, for example, to the criteria for the European Quality Prize, or start from the principles of total quality management.
