French universities : urgencies and missions

The 1995 university crisis brought up some essential questions about the reception of the students, their economic and social condition, their difficult social and professional integration. It also asks important questions about the objectives, means and functioning of the French university. The emergency measures have improved the situation of the university confronted with the most serious difficulties. But there are other questions, which refer to an actual reflection about the missions of the university and the ways which could allow the establishments to articulate ambitious and controllable strategies of development.
