Bibliography instruction in Canadian university libraries

The evolution of both university and documentary context makes essential that a reflexion should be led about « formation to information ». In Canada, bibliography instruction has been one of the essential tasks of the reference system for the last 20 years or so. Ranging from basic information to more thorough training, it aims at making students more autonomous and able to use the library and its real or virtual resources in a better way. The present article, written after a study journey in Canada's university libraries is an opportunity for the authors to take stock of the evolution of the teaching function devolved upon libraries and librarians to provide with the users the documentary training.
