Museums and libraries between social legitimacy and cultural scheme

If libraries widely enjoyed the boom of public cultural action, today museums seem to be preferred by local representatives. Is it an adjustment of investments or a priority of the cultural patrimonial scheme over the principles of democratization and cultural development ? With these words, one cannot answer this question. When the factors acting upon the cultural offer of both institutions are examined, it can be observed that museums tackle in a more coherent way the problems posed by the recomposition of cultural policies. Libraries, subjected to contradictory logics, to expectations, to representations and different practices, can nevertheless assert an important scheme through the management of plurality.
