The British Library, St Pancras

This article describes the new building now in course of construction for the London-based elements of the British Library. It notes how the form of the building reflects the operational requirements of the Library and how the needs for technological and organisational change have been met. It alludes to the history of the project and assesses the impact of the extended time-scale on the provision which is being made. It is concluded that although what is now being constructed is a less ambitions project than originally proposed, most of the Library's key requirements will be met.
