CD-ROM : the state of the art

Introducing the CD-ROM : how it is made, read, its softwares and uses. Used as a micro-computer peripheral, the CD-ROM offers a very large storage capacity (text, graphics and sound). Existing products, very limited so far, deal with document storage and publishing ; bibliographic data, dictionaries, factual data linked with desktop softwares. A tool for the professional, CD-ROM has yet to find its niche among a large number of other more general public-oriented media.
