Two central lending libraries.

Conversation between two managers. The central lending libraries of the Bas-Rhin and the Saône-et-Loire departments differ from one another not only in age and size but also in functioning. The central lending library of the Bas-Rhin, established in 1946, enhances direct action : 2 branches are opened to the public, direct loan is provided by mobile libraries (bookvans), and many deposit stations are supplied. The central lending library of the Saône-et-Loire department covers the whole district with a network of libraries under the authority of the towns. It appears to be a local service with a mediatized action, but it has no direct connection with the public. The devolution, whether it takes place through a revision of the public service or through a strengthening of the library as a balanced structure, means an important transformation.
